Lourensford

Lourensford enjoys a remarkably temperate climate, with weathered soils that are deep and ideal for vines. All the vineyards are located on north/south facing slopes, therefore never allowing the vines to be exposed to prolonged intense heat. Being only 8 km from False Bay, the vineyards are also naturally cooled by breezes blowing off the Atlantic in the late afternoon, providing much needed relief on hot days. This all creates the ideal terroir for world-beating wines.

The first plantings of vines here were in 2000 and the construction of the unique winery began in 2002, and the first wines were vinified in 2003. Lourensford uses technology unique in the southern hemisphere, operating a gravity-feed system.  Combined with minimum handling, this forms the basis of a singular philosophy of quality.
