About us
We’re a company run by wine enthusiasts who realised that by coming together and sharing our resources we were able to increase greatly the range of wines to which we had access, and make substantial cost savings.

The origins of Sharecase lie nearly 50 years ago when a medical student paid his way through university by wine-waiting four nights a week, prompting a lifelong interest, some would say obsession, in wine.
Years later the still impecunious doctor paid his children's school fees by buying early English drawings and watercolours at auction and selling them when school fees were due. This was done by a blunderbuss approach – lots of very low bids being left for fully authenticated watercolours, only a few of which were successful at any one time.
Later he applied the same principles to buying wine at auction. Lots of low bids meant very few were successful but eventually, as the result of a tube strike, the inevitable happened and he found himself with a large number of lots, and an even larger bill. After a hasty and slightly panicky phone around some wine enthusiast friends to share out the booty, the concept of Sharecase was born.
Fast forward to today and the basic principles still apply - by coming together with fellow enthusiasts we are able to source great wines at great prices, not only at auction but also from impeccable direct sources from as high up the wholesale ladder as possible.
Some members simply wish to take advantage of the pricing structure (members receive a discount of 10%) and enjoy wine which will taste all the better for being cheaper than they can buy anywhere else. Others participate, to a greater or lesser extent, in our various club activites such as tastings, dinners, wine tours, occasional "educational" monographs on certain aspects of wine and anything else that the members would like us to organise.
Our passion is great wine, and the pleasure it brings. We look forward to sharing it with you.
